Each season of Design House Australia centres on a distinguished residence, selected for its architectural presence, character, and sense of place. For a limited period, the home is transformed into a curated exhibition of contemporary Australian interiors.

A select group of leading interior designers are invited to reimagine individual rooms within the home, each bringing a distinct perspective in response to the architecture, the history, and the atmosphere of the property. Together, these spaces form a layered and cohesive whole, varied in expression yet unified through a clear curatorial approach.

To move through the showhouse is to experience design in context. Guests walk through the home as they would any private residence, encountering each space in sequence and experiencing light, proportion, materiality, and atmosphere as part of a complete environment. It is not a series of rooms presented in isolation, but a considered and immersive interior world.

Following an invitation-only opening night gala, the showhouse is presented to the public for a limited exhibition period. Attendance is intentionally measured, allowing for a calm and considered experience.

In this way, each showhouse becomes part of a broader narrative of Australian design. Through photography, publication, and ongoing conversation, the work continues beyond the exhibition itself, leaving a lasting contribution shaped by place, perspective, and the discipline of design.
